How to have a Victory Mind-set: Part I
How to have a Victory Mind-set: Part I
Introduction:
The Human
Mind has 4 primary actions-
· Thinking- The action of using one’s mind to
produce thoughts
· Imagination- The act or ability of forming a
mental image of something not present to the senses or never before wholly
perceived in reality
· Learning- The act or experience of one that
learns. Knowledge or skill acquired by
instruction or study.
· Understanding- Mentally grasping-Comprehension
Man has the
God given ability and power to reason and decide. Our thoughts/thinking occupies a large place
in our lives, marriage, parenting, careers, and life in God.
I Peter
1:13 ESV
“13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded,
set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation
of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians
2:16 ESV
“16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to
instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
There is an Eternal battle
taking place and it is happening in your mind even right now as we speak.
Ø God desires the human mind to be submitted to Him
and guided by His Holy word. It should
be directed though our spirit lead by the Holy Spirit.
Ø The Devil wants to capture and control your
mind-set. He knows that if he can sit
and be Lord of your mind, the rest of your life will just follow the world and
ultimately his wishes.
Ø Our mind-set is so important, that this is as
Joyce Meyers titled her book, “The BattleField of the Mind”. All hell is coming for you in this area, more
then in any other area of your life.
Whoever controls the mind, check-mate…..
Wins.
The Battle for your Mind
began in the Garden of Eden. It was in
the Garden that Satan seduced Eve.
II Corinthians
11:3 KJV
3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent
beguiled Eve through his subtilty (craftiness- NKJV)
, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in
Christ.
Paul warns to not be
seduced/deceived by the devils cunning words.
So the fight began…
A. The passive mind is blinded- to make blind, i.e. (figuratively) to
obscure:—blind.
II
Corinthians 4:4
“4 In
their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the
unbelievers, to
keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of
Christ, who is the image of God.”
The Gospel can have no
impact because you/they are mentally passive in your decision to believe.
B.
A passive mind is a reprobate mind:
Romans
1:28 “28 And even as they did
not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over
to a debased mind,
to do those things which are not fitting
…God gave them over to a
reprobate mind…
2 Timothy 3:8 NKJV
8 Now as
Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men
of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith;
(…reprobate concerning the faith)
unapproved, i.e. rejected; by implication,
worthless (literally or morally):—castaway, rejected, reprobate.
Titus 1:16 KJV
16 They profess that they know God; but in works they
deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
C.
The passive mind is vain- empty, or
valueless
Ephesians 4:17 KJV
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth
walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
D.
The passive mind is fleshly/Carnel-
Natural thinking
Colossians 2:18 NKJV
18 Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility
and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen,
vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,
Romans 8:7 ESV
7 For the
mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to
God's law; indeed, it cannot.
E.
The passive mind is defiled- a primary verb; to sully or taint, i.e. contaminate
Titus 1:15 NKJV
15 To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and
unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.
The
Christian Must Destroy the Passive Mind
A. The
empty mind- An empty
mind waits for some external power to activate it. Spiritism demands an empty mind. Oriental cults empty the mind. A blank mind is spiritually dangerous. The bible teaches believers to exercise there
mind, and be in self control. The Christian
MUST fill his mind with God truth, Love, and the power of the Spirit.
B. The
inactive mind- Mental
inactivity always leads to mental laziness.
We should always be learning, and growing stronger in every area as we
grow older in our lives so that we can show forth the wisdom of God, as we grow
in maturity. The human mind stops to
create, comprehend, and understand, the mind is known as being sick. Our mental ability to grow and worship should
never be given over to the Devil to be in bondage. An inactive mind desires to do things, but
never acts on it.
Worry, anxiety, and fear can paralyze a person within many
areas, that they can become weakened to the point where it cannot function
properly.
