How to have a Victory Mind-set: Part II

How to have a Victory Mind-set:  Part II

A.    The scattered mind-(lack of concentration)

The devil interferes with our power of mental concentration.  Some can’t focus for any lengthy period of time, due to a life of lack of mental exercise and follow thru.  Some are totally powerless to concentrate.  To some, they have to much on there mind, that it overwhelms them, while to others concentration is flighty.  This can create inattentiveness and drifting minds.

B.    The Forgetful mind

There are some people who seem deprived of the power of memory, and forget what they just did- Considered short-term memory loss

The devil will try to work against your memory, remember it is a place that Jesus said the Holy Spirit would also be working on…

John 14:26

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

C.    The Vacillating mind-  to waver in mind, will, or feeling hesitate in choice of opinions or courses

This is one of the devil’s best tools against the Christian, getting him to have 2 opposite views very quickly.  Either given the believer a quick thought, with the opposing thought after.  Shifting thoughts can be a sign of the work of the enemy and the weakness of the person in there mind-set.

James 1:8 KJV

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

James 3:13-18 NKJV

13 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure , then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

Pure- unmixed with any other matter

Peaceable- bring peace with it ref: Hebrews 12:11

Gentle- Even, equitable Ref: Phil 4:5, 1 Tim 3:3, Titus 3:2

Willing to yield- good for persuasion, easy to deal with

Full of mercy- Full- whose minds are filled with thoughts and emotions, either good or bad.  mercy: kindness or good will towards the miserable and the afflicted, joined with a desire to help them- Compassion

Good Fruit- fruit that is ready

D.   The unrestrained mind (talkativeness)- full of talk

The devil will use to destroy your mind by causing you to never listen, but just talk—to have floating words drift through your brain like the wind on the sea.

Some cannot restrain their tongue from gossiping, backbiting, and joking.

Ref: Proverbs 10:19- A flood of words without thinking leads to sin

E.    The unrelaxed mind (sleepless nights)

Insomnia is a common work of the enemy- Psalm 127:2

Some individuals lie in bed for endless hours thinking all kinds of things.  Their minds run like machines they can’t shut off.  You can rebuke the enemy, and then determine by the word of God which thoughts are Gods (The Mind of Christ) or the flesh/Devil.  The Christian needs to begin to think about there thoughts, and not just thinking the thoughts.

F.    The undisciplined mind (flashing thoughts)-

If you permit all kinds of ideas to flash though your brain, the devil will motivate most of it and nonsensical ideas will be there.

A person’s mind will permit “mind pictures” that produces a mental sceen, some good, some bad.  If that person’s mind is permissive, these pictures will begin to dominate and manipulate him.  The human mind must be disciplined to think the following things:

Philippians 4:8 NKJV

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Not all dreams are inspired by God, the devil may have something to do with it, while others are produced by physical conditions.

Mind Dreams- Becomes part of the mental picture developed during the day.

Sleep Dreams- The brain is less active and in that passive state the enemy can manipulate your thoughts that produce your dreams.  It can even cause you to wake up in a despondent/fearful spirit.  So then the enemy has a foothold on your day, your strength, your health, your mind-set.

What can the Believer/Christian do about the passive mind-set?

A.   We are in a war, so we must bring every thought into captivity

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 KJV

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

             B.    We must put off the old man

Ephesians 4:17-18 KJV

17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;

                      The renewed mind:

                  Ephesians 4:22-23 NKJV

22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man      which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be      renewed in the spirit of your mind,

               c. We must be reconciled in our minds/lives

                Colossians 1:21 NKJV

21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked   works, yet now He has reconciled

The human mind can cause you to think lower of yourself, and more highly of yourself then as you ought too.  Though salvation, man’s mind undergoes a dramatic change.  He can now use the sword of the Spirit.  We must not only be unshackled but empowered.

The mind becomes:

1)    Active- 1 Peter 1:13

2)    Powerful- It has powers of concentration

3)    Yielded- to the human spirit, which is yielded to the Holy Spirit

Have the mind of Christ

1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV

16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
